Keith John Moon (August 23, 1946 – September 7, 1978) was the drummer of the rock group The Who. As a drummer, Moon became known for an innovative style of drumming. Moon was one of the first players to play the drums as a lead instrument in an era when drums were supposed to only keep the backbeat. Moon also gained notoriety for his destructive lifestyle. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most unique of all rock and roll drummers.
