Indonesia First Class Old Bands : God Bless


God Bless is a rock band that has become legend in Indonesia. Of the 1970s can be regarded as their glory years. One proof of their big names was when God Bless chosen as the opening concert of the world's legendary rock group Deep Purple in Jakarta (1975).

God Bless establishment began with the return of Ahmad "Iyek" Albar returned to the country after several years of living in the Netherlands, he dreamed of forming his own band more seriously. He returned from the Netherlands along with Ludwig LeMans (Leaf Clover guitarist, the band Iyek while still in Holland). AKA

AKA rock band (an abbreviation of Apotik Kali Asin, a pharmacy owned by the father of Ucok Harahap, where they were headquartered and exercise) was established in Surabaya on May 23, 1967 with the initial formation: Ucok Harahap (keyboard / vocal major), Syech Abidin (drums / vocals ), Soenata Cape Tanjung (main guitar / vocals), and Peter Wass (bass). Peter Wass replaced by Lexy Rumagit injured when grenades were prepared for the rock group stage action of Ogle Eyes in Lumajang suddenly exploded and wounded him. Since 1969, Lexy Rumagit Kaunang replaced by Arthur Kaunang. Noteworthy, all AKA bass player is left-handed players. Read more

SAS

SAS is the split from the band AKA. Sunatha, Arthur, and Syech Abidin finally decided to kick Ucok of AKA and the AKA rename the SAS (Sunatha Cape, Arthur Kaunang, Syech Abidin) in late December 1975. SAS performance was not disappointing. Only two weeks since they form the SAS, they got a thumbs-up from 15 thousand spectators at Taman Ria Monas, Jakarta.

The Rollies

The Rollies is a soul funk pop music group from Indonesia which was established in Bandung in 1967 and was popular in the era of the 60's to early 80's. The personnel is comprised of Wake Sugito (vocals), Uce F. Tekol (bass), Jimmy Manoppo (drums), Didit Maruto, Marwan, Joko Delly Arifin (keyboards / vocals), and Tengku Iskandar Zulian (saxophone). Besides former members include Deddy Stanzah, Benny Likumahuwa (trombone), Bonny Nurdaya (guitar) and Iwan Krisnawan. Find out more

Koes Plus

Koes Plus is a musical group formed in 1969 as a continuation of the group Koes Bersaudara (Brothers). Famous music group in the 1970s is often regarded as a pioneer of pop music and rock 'n roll in Indonesia. The Mercys

The Mercy's was founded in 1965 in Medan with the initial members Erwin Harahap, Rinto Harahap, Rizal Arsyad (Iis Sugianto ex-husband), Reynold Panggabean (Camelia Malik's ex-husband) and Iskandar Rizal under the leadership of Arsyad. But when there was an invitation for the show in Penang, Malaysia in the same year, Alexander resigned, because tuition at the Faculty of Medicine did not allow him to leave college. His position then was replaced by Charles Hutagalung. Panbers

Panjaitan Brothers or better known by the name originated from the band Panbers boy in 1965.Pada 1969, they followed his father who served in Jakarta and agreed to seriously on track before the music even though they are required to complete the study in advance.

Panbers formed in 1969 that its personnels are the biological family of brothers. In 1971 Dimita company released one of the best albums, Panbers Volume I: Kami Tjinta Perdamaian ( We Love Peace). Continue Reading
